Olivia Newton-John announces Las Vegas shows
Singer Olivia Newton-John is headed to Las Vegas.
The deal was announced by the 65-year-old star, who rose to fame as a pop singer in the 1970s and had her first breakout film role in 1978′s “Grease,” on Tuesday, according to the Associated Press.
She will perform 45 shows in the Donny & Marie Showroom at The Flamingo Las Vegas beginning April 8.
The show, which is titled “Summer Nights,” will feature the singer’s biggest hits including “Hopelessly Devoted to You” and “You’re the One That I Want,” both from “Grease.”
Newton-John has sold more than 100 million albums and has received four Grammys, an Emmy, and numerous Country Music, American Music, Billboard and People’s Choice awards.
Newton-John had postponed a possible Vegas gig last April because her big sister, Rona, had been diagnosed with cancer.
The singer announced in December on her website that talks had resumed with Caesars Entertainemnt and that Donny and Marie Osmond would cut back their Flamingo dates to 33 weeks.
Confirmed dates so far include April 8-12, May 6-10 and 27-31, July 1-5 and 29-31 and Aug. 1, 2, 5-9, 12-16, 19-23 and 26-30.
Tickets are priced at 69, 99 and 139 and will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. Members of Caesar Entertainment’s Total Rewards program will have access to an exclusive pre-sale on Feb. 5. A special meet-and-greet package is also available for 249 dollars. Prices do not include taxes or fees. Click on flamingolasvegas.com for more information.
